NEW ULM, Minn. (April 5, 2017) — Mark and Kimber Sipma of Boyden, Iowa, are the 2017 Young Cooperator (YC) chairpersons for Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI). Fellow YCs elected the couple during the spring annual meeting of the Midwest milk marketing cooperative. The YC program is open to AMPI members age 40 and under.
“The AMPI YC Program has proven to be an excellent way for young members to learn more about the dairy industry and the milk marketing co-op we own,” Mark says. "We are excited to be part of the AMPI family and look forward to this opportunity to grow as leaders within the cooperative."
The Sipmas will work with fellow YC steering committee members to plan and host events throughout the year. Other members of the committee are: past chairpersons, Derek and Marcie Peterson, Black River Falls, Wis.; vice chairpersons, Jon Schmidt and fiancé Kim Murphy, Owatonna, Minn.; secretaries, Cole and Amy Hoscheit, Caledonia, Minn.; and member-at-large, Joshua Dickmann, Pierz, Minn.

Looking ahead, AMPI YCs will be traveling to New Ulm, Minn., June 20-21 for the annual YC summer tour. A tour of the co-op’s corporate office and nearby member farms will also be included.
AMPI is owned by dairy farm families from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. AMPI members marketed 5.5 billion pounds of milk, resulting in $1.6 billion in sales for the cooperative in 2016.
AMPI owns 10 Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, butter, dried whey and sliced American cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers.
